ARTIST STATEMENT - My Passion for Scenic Photography
The Straits of Mackinac (MAK-in-aw) is magical, a photographer's paradise. This narrow stretch of water which flows between Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas, connects Lakes Michigan and Huron and is spanned by the majestic five-mile long Mackinac Bridge which links Mackinaw City to St. Ignace, is truly a natural wonder.
While I was born and raised in the Metro Detroit area, many summer vacations were spent "Up North" visiting relatives in Cheboygan and Munising. It was, and still is, such a thrill to see the pillars of "The Mighty Mac" peeking through the forest of pine trees for the "first" time while driving north on Interstate 75 or US Highway 23.
My passion for scenic photography was ignited during those childhood years while taking family vacation pictures with my Kodak 126 Instamatic. It was fueled throughout my adult life as I expanded and improved upon my travel photography with my Pentax 35mm SLR. That passion continues to burn brightly within me as I pursue my retirement career in photography, capturing and preserving the natural beauty that surrounds us with my Canon DSLR.
As you navigate throughout my website and blog, I hope you enjoy this photographers vision of scenic photography!
